The pressure to talk

The pressure is remarkable.

The pressure to talk like others. The pressure to belittle others because of what they did to us in the past. The pressure to talk down on competitors and whatever they represent. The pressure to criticise our political leaders – sometimes blindly. The pressure to speak evil of religious leaders. The pressure to talk sarcastically about people because we know that we may never need their help. The pressure to demean people out of envy or jealousy… The list goes on.

Sometimes, we even speak ill of institutions, issues, concepts, and people that we do not fully understand! And we put our reactions to such complicated matters in the public domain! This is not wise at all. You heap dirts on your persona each time you do that. And, social media is fueling the misdemeanor.

But… the instruction of scriptures is clear: ‘… speak evil of no man …’ (Titus 3:2 KJV).

Learn to resist the pressure to speak evil of anyone no matter how tempted you are to do so. Don’t flow along with the dirty tide. Dare to be different.
