We build houses to live in them. But we have homes when we live in those houses in peace and can relax, eat, work, play, and relate to loved ones, friends, and associates in the context of comfort and protection.
So, you see that a house doesn’t necessarily make for a home. A home is a dwelling place. Jesus is preparing dwelling places for us in God’s house (John 14:2). How comforting it will be to find a continual dwelling place in the afterlife after all our struggles and pain on earth. God is considerate and merciful!
He knows what people are going through on earth. He knows that we need homes to live in for eternity. Jesus has gone to prepare homes (dwelling places) for us. Those who do not qualify for the mansions that He is building will be homeless and tormented forever. How do you define forever? Endless days! Hard for the limited human mind to understand or accept, but it is a fact. Forever is endless.
“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where (John 14:1-3 NLT)
