He had a man looking to meet Him. The man had a challenge. He wasn’t too tall and there was going to be a crowd when he appeared at his place. He devised a means to see him. He climbed onto a tree to overcome his height challenge to be able to see him. Little did he know that Jesus would reward that effort. When we hunger and thirst for God, our efforts to meet with Him would be rewarded.
Sometimes, we need to get to that point of desperation seeking the life of God to reign in us. How desperate are you to have eternal life living and reigning in you? Do you seek to meet with Jesus? What has your desperation compelled you to do so you can have an encounter with the Master of the universe? When Jesus said to Zacchaeus, ‘Zacchæus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.’ (Luke 19:5 KJV), He was ministering to a soul that was hungry for God.
Don’t get things twisted. God is the One that you need. Yes, you need your family, you need your career, you need that business, you need money, you need fame, and so on. But you need God more than all those. The presence of God in your life will be profitable to you in this life and in the life that is to come – beyond the grave.
In addition to all that you seek to get, get God. Seek Him as Zacchaeus did. Devise a way to overcome every challenge that is keeping you from meeting with Him genuinely. It is very soothing and it is eternally rewarding to hear those sweet words from the architect of our salvation, ‘This day is salvation come to this house, …’ (Luke 19:9 KJV)
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:6-7 KJV)
